Departing on icy roads this morning meant that we had to leave lots of time to get to the US border. The parking lot was like a skating rink as we climbed into Karen’s car. Undaunted we began our journey and before the border crossing even opened at 8:00 a.m. we were in the line up to cross.
Breakfast in Bellingham got our day off to a good start and with plenty of time to spare we were seated at the boarding gate waiting for our flight. …..along with about 1000 others who were packed into the small space allotted for Allegiant’s passengers. The most interesting thing that happened while waiting for our plane in Bellingham was the conversation that we had with some guys who were en route to Mesa from BC for a few days of golfing. They informed us that there had been a massive slide across the highway at Bridal Falls between 2:30 and 3:00 pm the day before….that meant that the slide must have happened at exactly the same time as we were passing that point of the highway! We said a few silent thank you’s for the luck that had followed us both on the trip down yesterday and the drive to Bellingham on icy roads this morning.
It’s hard to believe that I was at work yesterday morning as I lounge in the hot tub at Mesa Spirit tonight. We’ve already completed the first two legs of our adventure and it seems like I just left the office.
Darlene and Anne were at the Mesa airport to meet us and 15 minutes later we were pulling into Darlene’s trailer at Mesa Spirit where the bar was laid out awaiting our arrival and the fragrant aromas of dinner was wafting out to greet us. Dinner turned out to be a bit of a party with Anne, Gay, and Dianne joining Darlene, Lynda and I around the table. A couple of Mai Tai’s and a Pina Colada or two along with lots of laughter and an amazing meal were behind us and it was only 8:00 pm. That meant that there was time for a dip in the pool and a soak in the hot tub.
Ahhhhhh….life is good Drinks at Darlene’s after the pool turned into a later than planned bedtime and here I am at the end of a full day keeping up with the blog.
Till tomorrow….
